Council of the Four Kings Welcomes Deputy District Grand Prefect

On a sunny Wednesday 19th June, members of The Council of the Four Kings assembled in the Hong Kong room in Mark Masons' Hall for their June meeting.

There was a lot of work on the agenda, so promptly at 4pm Worshipful Master John Hicks opened the Lodge in St. Lawrence the Martyr. This was then followed by a Memoriam to W. Bro. Jeffrey Sloneem who sadly passed to the Great Lodge above on 24th May.

The Council then welcomed the Deputy District Grand Prefect, V. W. Bro. Steven Warwick and a delegation of District Grand Officers.

St. Lawrence was then adjourned. W. Bro. Terry Gilbert then took the principle's chair to open into the Degree of Masons Elect of Twenty-Seven. W. Bro. Terry then created Bro. Antonios Antoniou as a Grand Tiler of Solomon in great style assisted by officers of the lodge.

After closing Grand Tilers, the lodge was opened in the Holy Order of Grand High Priest, this time with W. Bro. Stuart Graves in the principle's chair. Bro. Andy Green was the nominated candidate along with 5 others being Anointed, Consecrated and Set Apart to the office of Grand High Priest. The ceremony was again conducted in fine style by W. Bro. Stuart and officers of the lodge.

The Lodge was then duly closed. Members and visitors then retired to the Hertford room on the first floor to enjoy a fine festive board, which as always with AMD meetings was filled with chatter and laughter. Food eaten and wine drunk, the Worshipful Master concluded with a toast to the next merry meeting.

Britannic Council of Madeira Welcomes District Grand Prefect

On Tuesday 18th June members of the Britannic Council of Madeira No. 46 assembled at Mark Masons' Hall for their June meeting. It was a great turnout of members, candidates and guests with barely a spare seat in the room. The Lodge was opened by Worshipful Master Alan White, who then welcomed into the meeting the District Grand Prefect R.W. Bro. Colin Woodcock MBE, accompanied by a delegation of District Grand Officers.

The Council then conducted the degree of The Red Cross of Babylon. There were 8 candidates to be dubbed and created Knights of the Illustrious Order of the Red Cross of Babylon. Bro. Rev. Timothy L'Estrange acted as the nominated candidate. The ceremony was conducted in fine style with W. Bro. Alan White taking the principle role in the Royal Arch Court and W. Bro. Boon Tan taking the principle role in the Persian Court. Both ably assisted by officers of the lodge. The bridge needed re-enforcing to accommodate the 8 candidates.

The meeting concluded the Council then joined the Eric White Council from the District of Essex for a combined Festive Board. The Eric White Council had conducted the ceremony of Grand High Priest. As always the room was filled with chatter and laughter with both Worshipful Masters conducting the toasts before the final toast to our next merry meeting.

Londinium Council No. 47 Welcomes Dist. Grand Junior Warden

At its most recent meeting, Londinium Council was honoured by the presence of W .Bro. Jan Melvin P.G.I.G., the District Grand Junior Warden.  He was introduced to the Council by his escorting Officer W.Bro. Brian Chapman P.G.I.G. A.Dist.G.D.C. and was attended by seven other District Grand Officers.  It was a very busy and most enjoyable meeting, with two candidates for Grand High Priest.  The ceremony was most ably delivered by W. Bro. Colin Howard G.I.G. with a full retinue of Officers who delivered word-perfect ritual without a book in sight.

This was followed by a full installation of the new Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Sean Turner.  This was very capably achieved by the outgoing Master, W. Bro. Matthew Christmas P.Dist.G.Std.B. who graciously donated his Master’s collarette to the Council and presented it to the new Master.  A sizeable donation to support the Dist.G.Sec.’s daughter in a sponsored walking challenge was also approved, much to his (and her) delight. After some significant consideration, the design for a logo to be used to represent Londinium Council was also approved by the members, and we look forward to using it on Summonses and elsewhere once it receives the support of Grand Council.

The Dist.G.J.W. expressed how delighted he was to see such a professional display with some of the most impressive ritual he had witnessed in many years.  The Council was closed and eighteen members and visitors retired to dine in the Earl of Euston room.  Great company and great food was followed by a visit to the bar where further enjoyment was had by those who remained.  We look forward to our next merry meeting, and to welcoming more visitors and guests in November.
